Hesto is looking for a dynamic individual to join the Engineering Department.
Job description

  • Lead, manage, direct and motivate the engineering operations team in support of manufacturing to ensure that manufacturing operations runs smoothly and efficiently, meeting quality standards and production targets.
  • Structure the deployment of engineering resources to support manufacturing.
  • Ensure team have clear performance objectives and development plans in place.
  • Motivate, delegate and empower appropriately, enabling the development of a high performing engineering team.
  • Enhance development through providing coaching and/or other development opportunities
  • Manage and monitor departmental budget.
  • Drive a performance culture within the department through OKRs and KPIs.
  • Ensure compliance with safety, quality and environmental standards as well as Yazaki, Hesto and customer specific requirements.
  • Ensure production lines and material flow are proactively aligned to meet customer production requirements via flow and pull.
  • Ensure capacity studies and continuously updated and reviewed.
  • Execute smooth production mix changeovers via Yamazumis and line balancing in support of changing customer demands while maintaining and improving plant efficiency.
  • Analyse production performance data and trends (efficiency, OPR, OEE, etc.) against targets and proactively identify opportunities for structured problem solving and continuous improvement.
  • Drive problem solving and optimisation activities through collaboration with cross-functional teams, including production, quality control, supply chain, and maintenance.
  • Drive a continuous improvement culture within the department to enhance production efficiency, reduce waste and improve quality through methodologies such as Lean Manufacturing, Six Sigma etc.
  • Support the effective industrialisation of new models and engineering changes into production.
  • Ensure site layout is kept up to date.

Minimum requirements

  • Grade 12 (Required)
  • B-Tech or BSc. in Engineering, Industrial (Essential)
  • A relevant Post Graduate Qualification would be an added advantage
  • 8 to 10 years’ experience in Industrial engineering within a Manufacturing environment (Essential)
  • 5 years’ experience in a management role
  • Computer Literacy – Strong MS Office (Essential), ERP (e.g. SAP or Syspro) (Advantageous)
  • Certifications in project management, six sigma and lean tools (Advantageous)
