Job description

APPRENTICES PURPOSE

  •  The development of the skills of the incumbent in preparation to becoming a trade tested artisan
  • The assistance of artisans in all maintenance activities under- the guidance of a Trade tested artisans, keeping all SHEQ, Wiring Manufacturing, Moving Machinery standards of each plant.
  • The apprentice will work through a Trade Logbook, going through a structured 3-year interplant rotation plan.

APPRENTICESHIP DEVELOPMENT STRUCTURE/OUTPUTS

 
  • The programme seeks to place the apprentice in maintenance & facilities areas of the plants according to the apprentice’s Trade they are developing into
  • Perform all duties as contained in the Department or Area Competency Logbook (Development Programme), as well as reasonably be required to perform by Hesto Harnesses.
  • Completion and sign-off of the Trade logbook requirements of the Trade.
  • Learn and achieve competence in all required plant processes and machinery proficiency as detailed by the logbook.
  • Troubleshoot machines & equipment to efficiently produce products that meet customer requirements,
  • Identify and communicate continuous improvement opportunities with production teams
  • Apply and maintain the highest level of 5S in areas of responsibility,
  • Assist and train operators to apply set machine parameters within allocated areas.
  • Attendance and completion of all Training Centre Phase 1-3 training,

Minimum requirements

  • Minimum N2/ NCV 4 Mechanical/Tool, Jig & Die Maker Trade Theory (Essential),
  • Grade 12 (with Mathematics) (Essential)
  • Exposure in the automotive industry (Advantageous),
  • Strong mechanical, electronics aptitude and troubleshooting skills,
  • Positive work ethic and initiative coupled with a passion for new challenges,
  • Excellent teamwork and communication skills.
